Israel At War – Day 83
Mission Failed
Quite The Understatement
According to its final report, the IDF shouldn’t have shot the hostages which, from outside observers is obvious. Here is what we read from a report from i24news.tv:
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released findings from an investigation into the tragic incident involving the death of three abductees during a rescue mission in the Shejaiya area on December 15, 2023.
The IDF spokesperson conveyed the gravity of the situation, stating, "The IDF failed in the mission of rescuing the abductees in this incident."
According to the investigation report, during intense fighting in Shejaiya, an IDF fighter shot at figures recognized as a threat, inadvertently hitting two of the abductees. In an attempt to cease fire and identify a third figure, miscommunication led to the unintentional shooting and death of the third abductee. The investigation revealed that the abductees were unarmed, walking without shirts, and waving a white flag, challenging the circumstances under which they were shot.
Halevi added this:
"The shooting of the hostages should not have been carried out - this shooting did not match the risk and the situation"
He went on to mention the deaths could have been prevented:
The Chief of Staff, Major General Herzi Halevi, expressed deep regret over the incident and acknowledged that the injury to the abductees could have been prevented. He emphasized the importance of complying with instructions to open fire and stressed the need for clarity in operational instructions, particularly in complex and stressful situations.
The decision was also released that the IDF will not take action against soldiers who mistakenly killed hostages in Gaza.
While stating that the shooting of the hostages should not have occurred, the Chief of Staff recognized the challenges faced by the fighters under intense combat conditions.
In the concluding report, Halevi reiterated the lessons learned and improvements in the connection between headquarters and field divisions to prevent such tragedies in the future.
Our continued prayers go out to the families of these three young men and anyone who’s lost family members in this war.
No Plans On Post-Hamas War
Apparently a cabinet meeting to discuss plans for Gaza after the conflict is concluded isn’t going anywhere as we learn in a report from The Times Of Israel:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has canceled a war cabinet meeting that was supposed to be held tonight to discuss Israel’s plan for who will govern Gaza after the war.
Netanyahu has refused to hold any such meetings until now, angering the Biden administration, which argues that failure to plan for who will govern Gaza after the war will lead to the IDF being bogged down in the enclave indefinitely.
The Israeli premier’s stance has been influenced by his far-right coalition partners who have similarly rejected any discussion about PA rule in Gaza.
The pressure to not make plans is coming from the far-right of the government:
This leaves few if any other options, but Netanyahu has appeared committed to keeping his coalition intact and has accordingly sought to delay “day-after” discussions for nearly three months.
Shortly after tonight’s meeting was scheduled, Bezalel Smotrich’s far-right Religious Zionism party announced it was holding its own faction meeting to protest its exclusion from the discussion.
Hebrew media reports that Netanyahu has agreed to discuss the matter in a Tuesday meeting of the entire cabinet.
United Nations Pokes Its Face Into Israel Again
In a report released by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the UN once again goes out of its way to criticize Israels actions in the West Bank as we see in a report form i24news.tv:
A United Nations report published on Thursday accuses a "rapid deterioration" of human rights in the West Bank, calling on Israeli authorities to address the escalating violence against the Palestinian population.
According to the report from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), approximately 300 Palestinians have died in West Bank raids since the October 7 Hamas attack.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk expressed deep concern over the situation, stating, "The use of military tactics, means, and weapons in law enforcement contexts, the use of unnecessary or disproportionate force, and the enforcement of broad, arbitrary, and discriminatory movement restrictions that affect Palestinians are extremely troubling."
Turk called on Israel to take immediate and effective action to halt settler violence against the Palestinian population. He urged thorough investigations into all incidents of violence involving settlers and Israeli Security Forces, emphasizing the need for the "effective protection of Palestinian communities."
Israeli officials were quick to respond:
"Yes, we have arrested hundreds of terror suspects in the area, and we will continue to do everything needed to defend our safety"
The majority of these casualties occurred during operations conducted by Israeli security forces or in confrontations with them.
Israeli officials have not yet provided an official response to the report. However, government spokesperson Tal Heinrich said that the report is "ridiculous", since Israel has consistently asserted that its operations in the West Bank are preemptive measures aimed at addressing security threats.
I might add that releasing 300 criminals back into the West Bank isn’t cited in this UN report as a possible reason for an increase in violence.
Hamas Is Clearly Manipulating The Press
We need only go back to the initial reporting done when the Al-Ahli hospital explosion occurred and the world-wide press for the most part ran with the Hamas information of Israel behind the strike leaving 500 dead. As the IDF investigated the incident using their sources and satellite images, the real truth came out. I even did a search on the day the incident occurred and it yielded pages of links to the false accounts all wrong. I went to more reliable sources when I reported on it saying that Israel doesn’t target hospitals, which has always been the case and questioning the accounts I saw in my internet searches. As it turned out, I was right. So when you hear numbers being thrown around of how many Palestinians have been killed in the war, such as 20,000 and the mass genocide that US congresswoman Rashida Tlaib states is happening, take a little pause and consider the source of comments like these found in an article from The Times Of Israel:
Far-left Democratic lawmaker Rashida Tlaib calls Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “genocidal maniac,” blasting US lawmakers who have met with the Israeli premier.
“Every member of Congress who sits down with this murderer is supporting a war criminal,” Tlaib writes in an Instagram story yesterday. “We will never ever forget.”
“I am so sick and tired of our country funding and supporting a genocide and war on children,” Tlaib writes in another Instagram story. “Please don’t stop talking about Palestine.”
Someone needs to tell her to begin talking about the atrocities Hamas performed on October 7th before she talks more about how bad Israel is. Or remind her of the rockets fired into northern Israel at a church, an attack they bragged about on X. I highly doubt she will reply back with an honest report. The point is this: Hamas and the mainstream media cannot be trusted when they report or opine about Israel and the war.
Poking God In The Eye
The apple of God’s eye just poked Him in His eye when the Israel High Court ruled, and ruled with out dissent for gay parental rights as seen in the article from i24news.tv:
The Israeli High Court of Justice has unanimously ruled that same-sex couples may adopt children, marking a significant shift in the nation's adoption laws.
The ruling, based on a reinterpretation of the 1981 law on adoption, challenges the existing provision that limits adoption to "a man and his wife together."
The current law, which effectively restricted adoption to heterosexual couples, allowed for rare exceptions for same-sex couples. However, the recent High Court decision addresses this disparity and opens the door for same-sex couples to adopt children on equal terms.
The ruling just shows us that any judicial body can go off the rails when left to its own devices, and rulings like this are evidence of why the conservative branch of the government wants to weaken their power. The article goes on to explain the logic of the decision:
In his ruling, Supreme Court President Uzi Vogelman highlighted the "subjective purpose" behind the original legislator's intent when passing the adoption law. The court contends that the goal was to provide children with a stable and secure family unit, irrespective of the sexual orientation of the parents.
To navigate this legislative impasse, Vogelman applied the judicial doctrine of "interpretation" to reevaluate the 1981 law. The court now interprets the language of the law to permit two individuals in a committed relationship, regardless of their gender, to adopt children, effectively expanding adoption eligibility to same-sex couples.
God still loves His chosen people, even when they are backslidden as they are now. Pray as we have before that Jews will turn from their fallen ways and repent. We know that God will use the Tribulation to bring them to their knees overall, but today is the day of salvation
