Reset, Revisited
When I taught God Laughs at the Great Reset back in December 2022, the headline was how bold, blatant, and brazen the architects of the reset had become. Klaus Schwab was telling world business leaders that what we need is “a great reset of capitalism”. They weren’t hiding the plan - they were announcing it.
That episode landed on Psalm 2, where the nations hold a summit and heaven’s response isn’t panic. It’s laughter. Almost four years later, the reset has a new face and an old name: Agenda 2030. And this time something has changed. Some of the most powerful leaders on earth are saying no out loud.
Seventeen Goals, One Deadline
On September 25, 2015, all 193 UN member states adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development - 17 goals and 169 targets, all to be implemented by 2030. The language is gentle: poverty, hunger, health, education, clean water, climate.
Then the World Economic Forum rolled out its Great Reset Initiative in 2020 and tied it to those same UN goals. Same agenda, new packaging, bigger stage.
Here’s the part nobody argues with. The UN’s own 2025 progress report says the world is drastically off track on the goals. The deadline is fixed, the results aren’t there, and that gap is why this fight matters right now.
Soft Governance Gets a Hard No
In March 2025, the U.S. Mission to the UN told the General Assembly that the United States “rejects and denounces” the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. Ambassador Edward Heartney called them a program of “soft global governance” that he said was dressed up in neutral language.
His closing line may be the most quotable: “globalist endeavors like Agenda 2030 and the SDGs lost at the ballot box”, he said. America had become one of the first nations on earth to formally renounce the goals.
Trump Takes the Podium
Six months later, President Trump took the same stage himself. At the UN General Assembly on September 23, 2025, he called climate change “the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world”.
He told the delegates the UN was “funding an assault on Western countries and their borders”, according to AFP’s report, and that it was time to end the “failed experiment of open borders”. As one account put it, he said the UN had enormous potential and wasn’t living up to it.
The words were followed by action. In January 2026 the administration announced its withdrawal from 66 international organizations, 31 of them inside the UN system. And in July, Ambassador Mike Waltz told a House committee that the UN had been “obsessed with SDGs”, listing it among the problems the administration is working to fix.
The Vice President’s Vantage Point
JD Vance’s version of the same story runs through sovereignty. When he spoke at the Munich Security Conference in February 2025, UnHerd’s reading was that he was announcing a West built on strong, self-governing nations rather than a borderless global order.
Before he took office, a USGLC profile of his foreign policy views recorded him arguing that the rules-based international order was “designed to benefit global elites and hurt working people”. I’ve covered Vance before, and this lesson stays on one question: whether the nation or the network gets the final say.
Netanyahu and the Sovereignty Line
Benjamin Netanyahu hasn’t made Agenda 2030 his talking point, so I’m not putting those words in his mouth. What he has done is draw a hard line on who decides Israel’s future. At the UN General Assembly in September 2016 he said “We will not accept any attempt by the UN to dictate terms to Israel”.
That same speech called the body a “moral farce”, noting that in one year it passed 20 resolutions against Israel and only three against every other country combined. This September, dozens of envoys walked out during his address to the 81st General Assembly while his own delegation stood and applauded.
Back in 2014 he used the same podium to warn about global ambition of a different kind. He quoted an Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander on preparing the way for “an Islamic world government”. He was describing another party’s goal, not laying out his own view of every global arrangement.
Here’s why I’m including him. A sovereignty-minded Israel is exactly the kind of nation that would welcome a deal promising security and independence. Daniel 9:27 speaks of a covenant confirmed with many for one week, and many futurist teachers read that as a seven-year agreement made by the coming ruler. Meanwhile Revelation 13:7 shows that ruler receiving authority over every tribe, tongue, and nation.
Prophecy teachers connect Daniel 9:27 to Israel because Daniel 9:24 establishes that the seventy weeks concern the Jewish people and Jerusalem, while verse 27 describes the cessation of sacrifices associated with Jewish worship. This connection is reinforced by Daniel 12:11 and Jesus’ reference to the abomination of desolation in Matthew 24:15. The nations’ gathering against Israel is already written. God says He will gather the nations and enter into judgment over how they treated His people and divided His land (Joel 3:2), and all the nations of the earth will be gathered against Jerusalem (Zechariah 12:3).
Even Moscow Is Saying It
Vladimir Putin is a surprising voice here, and I’ve taught on him before. In my Mark of the Beast: The One World Government lesson, I pointed out that Putin, Trump, and Netanyahu each told the global stage their nations would not give up their sovereignty. My point was that you can’t have a global government until that kind of thinking is gone.
His Davos Agenda address in January 2021 backs that up. According to the Moscow Times, he described real multilateralism as “unifying sovereign states’ efforts” rather than one side pushing its own interests - at the forum that launched the Great Reset conversation.
In June 2022 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum he went further, declaring that “the era of the unipolar world order was over”. That’s a rejection of a single power center running the planet, which is the heart of the one-world fear.
Notice what Scripture does with a voice like his. A man can oppose Babel and still be building his own tower (Psalm 146:3), and even a king’s heart is a stream of water in the Lord’s hand (Proverbs 21:1).
A Watchman Weighs In
Prophetic voices are speaking into this moment too. On October 2, Joseph Z opened A Miracle Midterms Is Coming with a word that the Spirit of the Lord does not want “this globalist regime mafia to take over and bring us to agenda 2030”. He sees Agenda 2030 being dismantled, at least in this hemisphere, and light shining in the darkness.
On October 8 he put the Great Reset itself in a short clip: 2030 was coming, but the Spirit of the Lord told him “I’m going to upset the great reset” and give the church one more round to take Goliath down.
Then on October 9 he titled a broadcast He Who Sits In Heaven Laughs, pointing to Psalm 2:4 as God’s answer to the pressure building toward the midterms. His words: “I believe he who sits in the heavens laughs”. He pairs it with a call to stay in the Word, vote in faith, and refuse fear.
Julie Green and Amanda Grace don’t use the Agenda 2030 label, but they describe the same plan. In her August 10 broadcast, Julie said the globalists are doing it all to control the world, and that “everything that is hidden will be made known”. She read Psalm 33:10 and Job 5:12 over it: God frustrates the plans of the crafty.
Amanda Grace’s August 7 teaching warned of an unholy alliance trying to set up “a beast system of its own that foreshadows the one that is to come”. She also noted the devil has no problem feeding people if it draws them into an agreement with an agenda from hell - the same caution as the hungry we feed in the name of Jesus.
Joseph Z also gave the agenda its own segment, “Agenda 2030: What You Need to Know,” in his August 21 prophecy broadcast. Each voice is a puzzle piece, and the picture comes together when the pieces fit the Word.
That’s why Paul tells us to 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 - don’t despise prophecies, but test everything and hold fast what is good. The test for every word, every leader, and every headline is Scripture.
Babel Beats a Brand-New Banner
Every one-world plan is a rerun of the first one. In Genesis 11:4 the people of Babel said “let us make a name for ourselves” - one language, one city, one purpose. God’s answer in Genesis 11:6-8 was to scatter them, and Acts 17:26 tells us He set the boundaries of the nations on purpose.
Revelation shows the final version. The beast receives authority over every tribe, tongue, and nation (Revelation 13:7), and the ten kings of Revelation 17:12-13 hand their power to him with one mind. And 1 Thessalonians 5:3 says the world will be saying “Peace and safety!” right before sudden destruction.
That doesn’t make every goal on the list evil. Feeding the hungry is Jesus’ own work (Matthew 25:35). The question Scripture asks is who’s in charge, and who gets the glory.
Laughter From the Throne
Now back to where we started. Psalm 2:1-3 describes the nations raging and the rulers taking counsel together against the Lord. Then comes the verse I want you to hear again:
“He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision.” (Psalm 2:4)
The Hebrew is worth a look. The word for laugh is sachaq, to laugh or make sport, and the word for derision is la’ag, to mock or scoff. This isn’t nervous laughter. It’s the laughter of someone who has already read the last page.
Another psalm backs it up: “The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing” (Psalm 33:10). Summits convene, goals get adopted, delegates walk out, and none of it moves the throne.
Let God Have the Last Laugh
So here’s the challenge, and it’s concrete. This week, read Psalm 2 out loud once a day - not skimmed, out loud. Then pick the one headline that’s been tightening your chest and say it to God by name: the goal, the leader, the policy. Tell Him you know He’s on the throne and they’re not.
Then do one thing with your hands. Find out what your city, county, or school district has adopted under the banner of sustainable development, read it for yourself, and pray over it by name. Fear gets louder in the dark, and information plus prayer turns the lights on.
Leaders will rise, delegates will walk out, summits will meet, and heaven has already laughed. Make sure you’re standing with the One who’s laughing. “Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him” (Psalm 2:12).
