Israel At War Day 638
Lipstick On A Pig
They’ve Got To Be Kidding
As news that Hamas is giving a “positive” thumbs up to the current offer for a temporary ceasefire word is slowly coming out about just what they want as we’re told in a report from World Israel News:
As indirect negotiations intensify, Hamas has reportedly shown willingness to accept two of Israel’s three main demands in exchange for a phased ceasefire and hostage release.
One of those demands is that Hamas is totally demilitarized. Here is what they said they’d do:
According to Saudi outlet Asharq, Hamas may offer guarantees to halt arms smuggling, close weapon production sites, stop tunneling operations, and store its weapons, steps seen as de-facto demilitarization.
Other reports said that the weapons would be stored away from Hamas. But another group could just use them which is just their way of eventually getting their hands back on them. As for Hamas no longer being in charge in Gaza they offered to do this:
The group is also reportedly open to the symbolic and temporary exile of a small number of senior figures. This would mark a significant concession, as Israel has demanded the removal of Hamas leadership from Gaza as a condition for ending the war.
No, Israel wants all of Hamas to be removed to never return. Temporary exile? Who are they kidding here? I see these snakes thinking that the US will buy this as Trump seems to want peace at any cost. I hope they don’t. Still, none of this is etched in stone and the clock is ticking on their formal response:
Although Hamas has yet to formally respond to the latest ceasefire proposal, President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that a reply could come “within 24 hours.”
When asked about the area, Trump wants safety for anyone living there. He also he is pressing both sides to get a deal done, although having mediators who support Hamas to get those terrorists to compromise is hardly logical:
Trump added that he wants safety for the people of Gaza and has been pressing both Israel and Hamas to reach a deal, applying pressure on Qatar and other mediators.
Israel still has these three conditions for a deal:
The three Israeli conditions include: the end of Hamas rule in Gaza, the group’s disarmament, and the exile of key leaders.
Ending Hamas rule and complete disarmament isn’t being taken seriously by Hamas and the exile of top leaders isn’t either. If Israel holds firm, no deal is going to happen, but some think both sides are willing to bend to get an agreement:
While full compliance appears unlikely, the reported flexibility on two points – disarmament and exile – signals a potential shift in stance.
More Hogwash
I used the term hogwash as an aside yesterday and one person got a kick out of it. And it fits better now than it did yesterday as Hamas wants to sound reasonable when they offered these things:
Sources quoted by Asharq also said that Hamas may agree to stop its terrorists from wearing uniforms publicly, further suggesting a willingness to scale back its overt military presence.
So not looking like a military will change what they do? Now they’re putting lipstick on the pig to make us think this is a real change. And of course they won’t name who will go into exile:
However, the identity of the leaders to be exiled and the duration of their absence remain unclear.
This little tidbit of news make any thought that Hamas will not govern after the war ends ludicrous:
Meanwhile, Hamas’s internal enforcement unit, known as the “Arrow Unit” (Sahem), is preparing for a post-ceasefire crackdown on collaborators and criminal elements. The unit has released statements warning that it will begin punishing “traitors” immediately after a truce is declared, including drug dealers and informants, many of whom are allegedly listed by name.
What about that safety for Gazans that Trump wants? Hamas won't allow that to happen. After brutally killing 1,200 innocent Israelis and taking 250 more captives and treating them inhumanely for over 630 days and counting they want to allow us to let them police the area? Negotiators from Egypt and Qatar think so:
Regional mediators Egypt and Qatar reportedly believe Hamas remains the only viable policing force in Gaza during a potential transitional phase, as any future government will require on-the-ground enforcement.
And Hamas wants an ironclad guarantee from the US that Israel won’t go back to eliminating them once the 60 days are up:
If serious talks on ending the war are underway during the ceasefire, the U.S. may offer guarantees to prevent the resumption of hostilities.
This last piece of information, if true is troubling:
Israeli officials close to Prime Minister Netanyahu say he is “very eager” for a deal, viewing the current diplomatic climate as a “once-in-a-generation opportunity.”
No sir, this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to rid Israel of Hamas in all forms. Please count the cost for appeasing terrorists who have no intention of honoring any deal. They broke one from 2021 on October 7th of 2023 to get us to this point. Then consider what will Israel get back. 10 living hostages and half of the remains of the deceased ones. Don’t get me wrong, any hostage that gets to come home is a good thing. But letting Hamas off the hook for what they did and continue to do has to be put into the equation. This means that the other hostages have to spend two more months in cruel captivity. Let that sink in. And did I mention they want Israel to leave areas they currently control so Hamas can control it again? Folks, from what I’m reading this deal is getting worse and worse for Israel. As you pray for Israel, pray for their leadership, especially the Prime Minister to take a hard stance on Hamas even if it’s unpopular with Trump. The safest time for Israel is when all terrorists surrounding them are defeated permanently.
