US Pressure On Netanyahu
We’re told in a report from The Jerusalem Post that US President Trump wants the war in Israel to end soon:
US President Donald Trump has been increasing pressure on Israel over recent days, an anonymous source told The Washington Post on Monday.
"Trump has been letting Israel know 'we will abandon you if you do not end this war,'" the source added, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the press.
The good news is that Netanyahu wants the war to end, too:
The increase in pressure from Trump came after Israel called up tens of thousands of reservists and ramped up Gaza bombings, the Washington Post added.
The issue of humanitarian aid came up with Trump and the United Nations who is very antisemitic is pushing it as well:
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that Israel approached it to “resume limited aid delivery” and that logistical discussions were ongoing due to the rapidly changing situation on the ground, the Washington Post reported.
The UN's emergency relief coordinator, Tom Fletcher, wrote that the aid is "a drop in the ocean," and that "it must reach the civilians who need it so urgently, and we must be allowed to scale up.”
Netanyahu agreed to help out, no doubt after Trump pressured him to do so:
In a video posted on social media, Netanyahu said that while Israel was deploying “massive force to take control of all of the Gaza Strip … we cannot reach a point of starvation, for practical and diplomatic reasons," the Washington Post cited.
The aid will start today but Hamas won’t be in charge of distributing it much longer:
The IDF allowed humanitarian aid to start to begin entering the Gaza Strip on Monday – after a two-and-a-half month pause dating back to early March – at almost the same time that it significantly escalated the new invasion of the Strip with five divisions.
Netanyahu said on Monday that Israel would launch an alternative, US-backed humanitarian aid mechanism in the coming days, the Washington Post added.
"On the recommendation of the IDF, and out of the operational need to enable the expansion of the intense fighting to defeat Hamas, Israel will introduce a basic amount of food to the population in order to ensure that a famine crisis does not develop in the Gaza Strip," the Prime Minister's Office said. "Such a crisis would jeopardize the continuation of the 'Gideon Chariots' operation to defeat Hamas.
The article ends with a quote from Trump in his concise style:
US President Donald Trump, speaking Friday in the United Arab Emirates on the final day of his Mideast swing, said, “We’re looking at Gaza. And we’re going to get that taken care of. A lot of people are starving.”
Iran Isn’t Happy
In an article from World News Israel the Iranian Supreme Leader took swipes at President Trump at a time when their nuclear talks are thought to be reaching an agreement:
Iran’s Supreme Leader took aim at the United States over the weekend, even as nuclear talks continue between the Trump administration and Tehran, and explicitly called for the annihilation of the State of Israel.
The comments were posted on his X account over the weekend:
Ayatollah Khamenei’s official X/Twitter account published a string of comments on Saturday, castigating President Donald Trump and America’s support for Israel during the war against Hamas.
His social media tirade came at a critical time when a nuclear agreement was close to happening:
Last week, Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, reportedly gave Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi a written proposal for a new nuclear deal during the fourth round of talks in Oman on May 10, which Araghchi took back to Tehran.
Days later, a senior adviser to Khamenei told NBC News that Iran was prepared to make major concessions, adding that a deal would potentially be reached “today.”
Trump himself seemed to think a deal was close as well when he said this:
“We’re not going to be making any nuclear dust in Iran,” Trump said. “I think we’re getting close to maybe doing a deal without having to do this.”
Khamenei voiced his displeasure with Trump’s Middle East visit regardless of the negotiations:
Despite the signals last week of an impending agreement, Khamenei castigated Trump over his comments during a four-day trip to the Middle East last week, calling them “so low” as to be “a source of shame” for Americans.
“Some of the remarks made during the US President’s trip to the region aren’t even worth a response at all,” Khamenei said via his official X account.
“The level of those remarks is so low that they are a source of shame for the American nation. Trump said he wants to use power for peace. He’s lying.”
He then accused Trump of helping the “massacres” in the region to make his point:
Khamenei accused Trump and the U.S. of facilitating massacres in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
“US president, other US officials and administrations have used power for the massacre in Gaza, for igniting wars and for supporting their own mercenaries. When has the US ever used power to bring peace?
“They used power to provide the Zionist regime with ten-ton bombs to be dropped on Gaza’s children, hospitals, people’s homes, in Lebanon, and wherever else they could.”
Khamenei then turned his vitriol towards Israel:
Iran’s top cleric and spiritual leader also blamed Israel for “corruption, war, and discord” in the Middle East, calling the Jewish state a “cancerous tumor” that will be destroyed.
“Without question, the source of corruption, war, and discord in this West Asia region is the Zionist regime. The dangerous, deadly, cancerous tumor in West Asia must and will be eliminated.”
If there was any doubt over why Iran should never get nuclear weapons, these comments should make that clear as day.
