It’s Official

Today US President Donald Trump signed the Board of Peace in Davos, Switzerland. We’re told more in an article from The Epoch Times:

U.S. President Donald Trump on Jan. 22 signed the Board of Peace charter during his visit to Davos, officially launching a new international organization aimed at overseeing the peace process between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group while addressing other global conflicts.

This was the part everyone knew about. But the part of addressing other conflicts, well that has major prophetic implications. Trump, as he always does was magnanimous at the ceremony:

“This board is the chance to be one of the most consequential bodies ever created, and it’s my enormous honor to serve as its chairman,” Trump said before the signing ceremony of the charter.

The signees were in attendance minus Israel which I find odd:

He hosted the event with representatives from nearly two dozen countries: Bahrain, Morocco, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Trump went off script again as he is wont to do:

“We are truly honored by your presence today,” Trump said at the event. “Leaders of countries—in most cases very popular leaders, some cases not so popular. But that’s the way it goes in life.”

Strangely missing were big players in Europe:

No representatives from Western Europe attended the signing ceremony. Several countries, including France, refused to join or declined invitations, citing concerns that the new organization would be a direct competitor to the United Nations.

More details about the board was provided:

The White House on Jan. 16 named several members of the Trump administration, as well as international leaders, to positions within the Board of Peace, which aims to provide strategic insight, mobilize international resources, and ensure accountability during Gaza’s transition and reconstruction. Trump will chair the board, which will be tasked with overseeing the next phase in Gaza. Dozens of countries have been invited to join.

These members need to deal with the current ceasefire first, though:

Members will be tasked with managing the Gaza Strip’s “governance capacity-building, regional relations, reconstruction, investment attraction, large-scale funding, and capital mobilization,” according to the White House.

One man, Pierre Rehov, isn’t buying this move as we see on his X account:

For once I have to disagree. Prosperity won’t change “Palestinian” mentality for the simple reason that they don’t care about prosperity or their future of their families. They are obsessed with the extermination of Jews and the forced conversion of Christian’s. The only solution would be to send them back to where they came from when they slowly invaded Jewish land, the same way Muslims are colonizing Europe. Worse: the “Palestinian People” was invented by the KGB. Their only identity is the willingness to erase Israel from the map. Don’t fall into the trap.

And About The UN

Although Trump sure sounds like this Board of Peace will do what the United Nations hasn’t done, he still maintains it won’t replace them:

During a Jan. 20 White House press conference, Trump said the Board of Peace might end up replacing the United Nations.

“I wish the United Nations could do more. I wish we didn’t need a Board of Peace,” Trump told reporters. “The U.N. just hasn’t been very helpful. I’m a big fan of the U.N. potential, but it has never lived up to its potential.”

Despite criticizing the U.N., Trump didn’t call for the dissolution of the international body.

Going back to the configuration of this new board we see that the US will be heavily involved, but there are those who aren’t politicians at all:

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special presidential envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair are among those tapped to serve on an executive board for the Board of Peace. Others on the executive board are private equity executive Marc Rowan, World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, and U.S. deputy national security adviser Robert Gabriel.

I along with Israel are concerned by others Trump included in the mix, and for good reason:

The Board of Peace will include a National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, led by Palestinian Authority official Ali Abdel Hamid Shaath. In a video message at the Board of Peace launch ceremony, Shaath announced that the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza will open in both directions next week.

There are defense reasons for not reopening the Rafah crossing and it is not safe overall until Hamas and any other terrorist organizations are dealt with first. Another man is tasked with representing Gaza:

Nikolay Mladenov, a Bulgarian diplomat and former U.N. envoy to the Middle East, has also been named to serve as the high representative for Gaza. This role entails acting as a link between the Board of Peace and the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.

Lest we forget why this board was formed the article tells us and then Trump sent a message directly to that group

As part of the peace process, Hamas has agreed to disarm. During his remarks to the World Economic Forum in Davos on Jan. 21, Trump said failure to comply would result in severe consequences and that Hamas would “be blown away.”

Then the US President hinted that the terrorists up north may be addressed strongly, too:

“We have 59 countries that are part of that whole peace deal,” Trump said during his speech. “And they want to come in and take out Hamas. They want to come in. They want to do whatever they can. There’s a problem with Hezbollah in Lebanon. And we'll see what happens there.”

I alluded to the prophetic aspect of this Board of Peace and actually discussed it in a previous podcast. My concerns then are even more concerning now. Trump clearly wants this model to be used to solve wars elsewhere and that sounds a lot like what we see in the book Daniel 7:4 and Revelation 17:12. Do I think this is it now? No, but now the blueprint is there for us. Unfortunately, I don’t see this as a good thing for Israel who is now in day 840 of their war against Hamas. We need to pray that it will eliminate Hamas but doesn’t replace them with more Jew-hating leaders.
