Trump’s Win: Celebration with Caution
Let That Sink In
Who can forget the moment when Elon Musk walked into Twitter headquarters carrying a sink which was his way of telling everyone there and anyone else that his purchase of the social media platform went through and things would be different going forward. And boy did that happen. Now called X, Musk took a platform that was a place of censorship for conservatives into the freedom of speech venue it hailed itself as being. And now, ironically with the help of Elon Musk, the president who was permanently banned on Twitter now is heralding a golden age for that first amendment right he lost during his first term in office. I can say at least for myself that Donald Trump officially taking the office of President back is only now beginning to sink in. Shouts of “we did it” are on the lips of so many of us who prayed, worked and voted like there was not a tomorrow knowing that there wouldn’t be a tomorrow for the country we love if Trump lost the election. The stakes were that high. And yet, even though there was some suspense, at least in my spirit there was little doubt it would happen. You see, I never lost hope in the multitude of prophetic words that started in early November of 2020 that Trump was going to have s second term and that alone buttressed my faith in it happening. But it is still a little surreal that in over 24 hours so many things have happened.
Let’s Celebrate The Victories
In the first hours of his second term, President Trump ended unlimited illegal immigration with the swipe of a pen. He also removed the US from being part of the French climate deal. He also tackled gender confusion and paved the way for women to only compete with biological women in sports. He made a lot more sweeping changes, but the one thing that signaled to many of us that Trump isn’t going to go soft on us when he pardoned or commuted the sentences of 1,500 to 1,600 J’6ers allowing them to finally leave the DC gulag they’ve been held in for the better part of 500 days. It is dark blot on America’s history that these men and women had to endure the travesty of justice foisted on them by a cruel government bent on making a show of them for nothing more than attending a Trump rally in protest of the shenanigans that occurred in the 2020 elections. For this act alone President Trump should be congratulated. But this is only the beginning of balancing out the scales of justice that for too long has been tipped in favor of one political party. It took the better part of 8 years to get to this point and now it is time for President Trump and his team to dig in, root out the very bottom of the swamp and drain it dry.
There’s More To Be Done
While the prisoners of January 6th are breathing a much needed sigh of relief, more wrongs need to be righted. I’m referring to those 21 people who are in prison or facing prison for the crime of being a pro-life activist. According to one article, Trump signaled he would:
On at least three occasions, President Trump has publicly signaled his intent to pardon the pro-life advocates wrongly prosecuted during the Biden administration. In September 2023, on the heels of the FACE Act convictions in Washington, D.C., President Trump stated he would review the “cases of every political prisoner who’s been unjustly persecuted by the Biden administration.” In February 2024, in a speech to the National Religious Broadcasters in Nashville, Tennessee, Trump referenced the “pro-life activists… convicted on outrageous charges” in the Nashville FACE Act trial and pledged to review those convictions following his return to office. In June 2024, in a speech for the Faith and Freedom Coalition, Trump reiterated his earlier statements and specifically referenced 76-year-old Paulette Harlow in his remarks, who is included among the pro-life advocates requesting a full pardon in the communicated pardon request package.
The article went on to quote one Peter Breen:
“We are hopeful that the second Trump administration will spell a new day for pro-life advocates who have faced FBI raids, federal prosecutions, and severe punishment for peacefully and courageously witnessing for life,” added Peter Breen, Thomas More Society Executive Vice President and Head of Litigation. “By acting on the requested presidential pardons, President Trump has a golden opportunity to not only stop the lawfare against peaceful pro-lifers, but to also undo some of the unprecedented damage of the Biden administration. Inside and outside the courtroom, Thomas More Society attorneys have seen up close the harm inflicted by the Biden DOJ’s weaponization the FACE Act. Today, we call on President Trump to pardon these peaceful pro-lifers and put an end to this government overreach.”
Pardoning them is an executive action. Going after the people who weaponized the justice system will be up to the new US Attorney General and the new head of the FBI among others. And the new heads of the National Security Agency, head of the CIA and others will be key to letting these agencies know a new sheriff is in town and he’s not playing games.
He Will Disappoint Us
I thought I should let you know that President Trump is human and he may say or do things we will disagree with. He already has my ire for the disastrous ceasefire deal in Israel that people seem to think is all that and bag of chips. I’m certainly happy that hostages are being released, but the price is too high for my taste. Almost 2,000 criminals are being released for 33 hostages, roughly a third of those still being held by Hamas and they’re being released back in Israel where they committed their crimes. Don’t be fooled by the lamestream press that say Israel was holding children and women where are innocent. These prisoners and detainees are fully in the Hamas terrorist army and a great deal of them will go right back to harming or killing Israelis. So right off the bat I think Trump was duped by some on his transition team and this grave mistake needs to be corrected as of yesterday. Newly sworn in Secretary of State Marco Rubio should get on this immediately and I pray that he will. I also pray that any wolves in the fold will be rooted out right away so that a repeat of the first Trump term won’t happen. Any antisemitic administration members need to be shown the door now as well. But we need to know that we are only starting to win and there are many, many battles to be fought. As Christians we must not ease up and take a day off in interceding for Trump and the nation. Trump dodged a bullet to get elected and now we need to make sure no more spiritual bullets make it to him in the early days of his administration. But overall, yes, we should enjoy the victory. It was a long time coming and now it's here. And that’s a good place for an Amen!
