5 Prophets Warned of This Exact Disaster - And It's Happening Right Now
When the Ground Won't Stay Still
This week alone, floodwaters have killed more than 900 people across Nepal and Tibet with thousands still missing, a flash flood tore through the Grand Canyon and claimed a life, and the memory of the 8.8 earthquake off Russia's coast that triggered tsunami alerts from Hawaii to the West Coast hasn't faded. Prices of oil, wars in the Middle East, and now this - the ground itself seems to be joining in.
More people are asking the same question this week: did anyone see this coming? As it turns out, several prophetic voices say they did - some by name, some by number, some years in advance. It's worth laying their words next to what's actually happening.
Roaring Seas in Scripture
"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring" (Luke 21:25) is one of the clearest places Jesus ties natural upheaval to the season before His return.
The word behind "roaring" is the Greek ēchous, from ēcheō - a sound or ringing, the same root that gives English the word "echo." The word behind "waves" is salos - a violent tossing or rolling swell, used elsewhere in Greek for the shaking of an earthquake as much as for a storm at sea. It appears only this one time in the entire New Testament.
What makes the word choice notable is that two verses later, Luke uses saleuō - "to shake" - to describe the powers of heaven being shaken. Saleuō shares its root with salos. The same shaking Jesus says will hit the heavens is, linguistically, the same motion He says will hit the sea - one word tying together what happens in the water and what happens in the sky.
It's not an image unique to Luke. "Though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters thereof roar and be troubled" (Psalm 46:2-3) and "The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves" (Psalm 93:3) both use the same roaring-water picture for a world in upheaval - and both, notably, pair it with a declaration that God remains unmoved above it.
"For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows" (Matthew 24:7-8) goes further, calling these events the start of something, not the whole story.
"The earth quakes before them, the heavens tremble; the sun and moon grow dark, and the stars diminish their brightness" (Joel 2:10) is the Old Testament picture several of today's prophetic voices keep returning to when they describe what they've seen.
The Recurring Vision - Perry Stone
Perry Stone has described the same tsunami dream more than once: standing on a bridge in a U.S. coastal city, overhearing a young girl say, "Did you hear about the big earthquake?" and then watching a wave sweep buses and cars off the street. He's tied the vision directly to the real 8.8 earthquake that struck off Russia's coast and sent tsunami alerts to Hawaii and the West Coast, calling it a precursor rather than the main event.
In August 2026, Stone shared a new experience during an extended time of prayer. "I saw a map," he said, describing a spiritual vision that left him convinced a major earthquake - as high as 9.0 - is still ahead, possibly somewhere along the Pacific Ring of Fire.
The Alaska Word - Joseph Z
In a 2024 broadcast, Joseph Z declared: "Massive earthquake coming... I keep hearing the words Alaska." The word resurfaced when the real 8.7 and 8.8 earthquakes off Russia's coast sent tsunami warnings to Alaska, Hawaii, and the West Coast.
More recently, Joseph Z has warned of a significant California earthquake within the next three to six months, alongside concern over Yellowstone, urging preparedness rather than fear. A companion broadcast frames this as one of three anticipated events - alongside an eighteen-month grid shutdown and economic upheaval by year's end - saying the earthquake narrative alone could affect one billion lives.
A Continuous Flood - Julie Green
Julie Green's ministry has published a standing word that reads, in part: "disaster after disaster, judgment after judgment, and exposure after exposure are coming like a continuous flood that will not stop growing in intensity until your enemies are destroyed." It's a broad word - broad enough to fit almost any season of upheaval.
A separate word names a specific target: "you will see their financial system and government slammed with natural disaster after disaster. It will be hit with earthquakes and unusual weather phenomena." The nation in view there is China, framed as coming judgment for the government's role in the origins of a pandemic that killed millions.
A more recent word adds a general forecast for the weather itself: "the time is coming now when the weather will become more unusual and intense." Together, the three words move from broad (disaster in general), to specific (a named nation and named phenomena), to a plain statement about the weather - which makes them worth testing individually rather than as a single claim.
The Fault Line Prophecy - Brandon Biggs
Oklahoma pastor Brandon Biggs says he was shown a vision in 2024 of a 10-magnitude earthquake along the New Madrid fault line - the stretch running through Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Illinois. In the vision, roughly 1,800 people die, homes on cinder blocks are destroyed, and the Mississippi River itself changes course. Biggs said the quake would come three days after any attempt to divide Jerusalem through a two-state deal - a detail that resurfaced when President Trump signed the Israel-Hamas peace framework in October 2025.
The historical anchor for that detail is real: the actual New Madrid earthquakes of 1811-1812 were powerful enough that the Mississippi River genuinely ran backward, which is likely part of why this fault line keeps surfacing in prophetic circles two centuries later.
Biggs has also described a separate vision of an earthquake and tsunami striking Japan and then rippling to the U.S. West Coast, shaking Portland and Seattle. And in a set of visions surfacing this summer covering 2026 through 2028, he named a New Madrid earthquake, Venezuela's oil conflict, and giant floods in Asia together - three things that, this week, are all in the actual headlines at once.
The Shofar and the Shaking - Brandon Dawson
Brandon Dawson of Tribe of Christians wrote about a spiritual earthquake he experienced while standing in a food court - the ground seemed to shake violently for a minute or two, though nothing around him moved. As it ended, he heard two numbers: 6.7 and 7.3.
Dawson connected the experience back to a dream he'd published on September 11, 2024, of a grand cathedral he later understood to represent an unaware, unprepared American church. He's tied both to the Feast of Trumpets - Rosh Hashanah - which falls September 11-13 this year, landing on the same date on the calendar as the original 9/11 anniversary that sparked the first dream.
Standing the Watch
"Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good" (1 Thessalonians 5:20-21) is how each of these words should be weighed - not by whether they sound impressive, but by holding them against what Scripture already names as a real sign of the season. Read together, Stone's visions, Z's Alaska word, Green's words, Biggs' fault line, and Dawson's numbers all point at the same category of event the Bible keeps flagging: the ground and the sea bearing witness that something is moving.
That makes the call here watchfulness, not dismissal. "I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart, and watch to see what He will say to me" (Habakkuk 2:1) is the posture - a watchman doesn't shrug off what he sees on the horizon.
"Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is" (Mark 13:33) and "You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand" (James 5:8) complete the charge: stay alert, and let that alertness settle you rather than shake you.
The waves may keep roaring. The ground may keep shaking. None of it catches God by surprise - and neither should it catch His people unprepared.
