So Much Promise.
I am a big fan of the early history of America in the books by Peter Marshall and David Manuel that answer the question on the cover of their first book, The Light and the Glory of Did God have a plan of America? Through all the challenges and failures such as slavery and even a civil war to end it this country always seemed to rise to the occasion and be used by God to meet the needs of not only it’s own people but the people of other countries. I know some are doubting this more and more in light of the polarization of our social and political landscape, but I think we can safely say that if the United States didn’t exist we may all be speaking German today. And let us not be remiss in noting the massive amount of charitable giving and the sending of missionaries into the world to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When the world needs help, by and large they look to America to get it. But is all that changing now?
