Say It Ain’t So

As I predicted the honeymoon is over after the mostly conciliatory words for Charlie Kirk after his tragic assassination on September 10th of this year. Some hoped that his untimely death would spark a movement of peace between those with opposite views. While there was a time when people evidenced cordial statements of sympathy for Kirk’s wife and children I knew that people who didn’t like Kirk before would go back to their hateful and demeaning comments. Political pundits just couldn’t contain themselves for long and the online toxic wasteland filled with pure hatred filled back up again. I like to be optimistic, however even my upbeat attitude for life is saddened and disappointed by these people who want to sound so righteous as they characterize Kirk as a racist, fascist Nazi who wasn’t a Christian and didn’t qualify to be a martyr. I have to say that I knew that this would happen. The overall façade of niceness hid a deep-seated vitriol that only God could quell. Unfortunately repentance wasn’t on their docket before and certainly not after Kirk died. Even though I anticipated this and even said so in my podcast that fateful day, I hoped that it wouldn’t happen or at least not come back so quickly. Alas, politicians who posted what I thought were heartfelt comments then and for a few days after are back at trying to spin everything to keep power. When a vote in the US House of Representatives that denounced political violence and honored Kirk’s life was taken 58 Democrats voted against it with another 38 voting “present.” The comments by those against the bill were aimed directly at hating Kirk like this one from a report in AP News:

“Today’s resolution underscores the majority’s recklessness by choosing to author this condemnation and honoring on a purely partisan basis,” said Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, a high-profile Democrat who voted against the resolution. “We should be clear about who Charlie Kirk was.”

AOC as she is called is purportedly running for higher office either as a US Senator or even President. As I said, it didn't take long.

On The Other Side

Yes, the hating continues but it should also be noted that there are people whose lives are radically changed for the better now. Kirk epitomized healthy and hearty debate and when people started to listen to him rather than parrot what others said about him they realized that all the labels and out of context quotes were nowhere close to being right. I watched as over and over again videos popped up saying they had no idea he was so open to other views and they were wrong about him as a person. He wasn’t spreading hate like they were being told. Instead they say him politely engaging in open conversations on college campuses and giving facts when lies were being thrown at him. Surprisingly I and others saw people saying they were going to church or reading the Bible for the first time in a long time or even ever in their lives. And at his memorial service last Sunday thousands gave their lives to Jesus. Those who know how to geotrack attendance in the area said that there were over 200,000 people in Glendale. AZ. And those who were able to track online views estimated that 100 million or more watched it. I must also add that Kirk’s widow Erika gave a speech that was touching and powerful all by itself as I noted in another podcast. Kirk’s assassination and memorial have many believing that a revival of Biblical proportions is spreading around America and around the world. And I believe they’re correct. I also pray that the resistance will be silenced not by taking away their bullhorns but by being drowned out from those lifting up their collective voices in support of Kirk and what he stood for as well as the worship and praise of believers. No, the revival of evil won’t go away as Bible prophecy tells us, but the current wave of revival is also prophesied:

But [instead] this is [the beginning of] what was spoken through the prophet Joel:

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, God declares, that I will pour out of My Spirit upon all mankind, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy [[b]telling forth the divine counsels] and your young men shall see visions ([c]divinely granted appearances), and your old men shall dream [[d]divinely suggested] dreams.

18 Yes, and on My menservants also and on My maidservants in those days I will pour out of My Spirit, and they shall prophesy [[e]telling forth the divine counsels and [f]predicting future events pertaining especially to God’s kingdom]. (Acts 2:16-18, AMPC)

As Christians we need to strike while the iron is hot and it can’t get much hotter than it is now. The cry is one from Latin and it is Carpe Deum or seize the day.
